Write Like Me ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Google Docs add-on.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 User Information

• Email Address: We collect your Google email address to identify your account and provide service.
• User Preferences: Your writing style preferences, base prompts, and training examples are stored locally in your Google Apps Script user properties.

2.2 Training Data

• Google Documents: When you add Google Docs as training examples, we access and analyze the text content to learn your writing style.
• Web Links: When you add web links, we fetch and analyze the content to understand your writing preferences.
• Training Examples: The content from your training documents and links is processed to build your personalized writing style profile.

2.3 Usage Data

• Usage Logs: We track API token usage, costs, and operation types (generation, rewrite) for subscription management and usage limits.
• Subscription Information: If you subscribe, we store subscription details including plan, billing interval, and payment information (processed through Stripe).

2.4 API Keys

• User-Provided API Keys: If you choose to use your own API key (BYOK), it is stored securely in your Google Apps Script user properties and only used for API calls you initiate.
• Managed API Keys: For trial, beta, and subscription users, we use managed API keys that are stored securely in Script Properties.

3. How We Use Your Information

• Service Provision: To provide, maintain, and improve the Write Like Me add-on functionality.
• Style Learning: To analyze your training examples and build your personalized writing style profile.
• Content Generation: To generate and rewrite content in your writing style.
• Subscription Management: To manage your subscription, track usage limits, and process payments.
• Support: To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.

4. Data Storage

4.1 Local Storage (Google Apps Script)

• Your training examples, base prompts, and API keys (if BYOK) are stored in Google Apps Script User Properties, which are isolated per user.
• Usage logs are stored locally in User Properties for quick access.

4.2 Firebase Firestore

• User profiles, subscription information, and usage logs are stored in Firebase Firestore.
• Beta users' data is stored in a separate Firebase project from production users.
• Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

4.3 Third-Party Services

• Stripe: Payment processing and subscription management. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
• OpenAI: Content generation API. Your prompts and generated content are sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI's privacy policy applies.
• Google: Google Workspace integration. Google's privacy policy applies to Google account data.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• Service Providers: With third-party service providers (Stripe, OpenAI) who assist in operating our service.
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to users).

6. Your Rights and Choices

6.1 Access and Correction

You can access and update your training examples, base prompts, and preferences through the add-on interface.

6.2 Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your data by:

• Clearing training examples through the add-on interface
• Contacting us at andrew@eyecreality.com to request account deletion

6.3 Subscription Cancellation

You can cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe customer portal or by contacting support.

6.4 API Key Management

If you use your own API key (BYOK), you can update or remove it at any time through the Settings section.

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your information:

• Data encryption in transit (HTTPS) and at rest
• Secure storage in Google Apps Script User Properties (isolated per user)
• Firebase security rules to restrict access
• Regular security audits and updates

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

• Active Users: We retain your data as long as your account is active.
• Deleted Accounts: Data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
• Usage Logs: Retained for subscription management and may be kept for up to 12 months.
• Legal Requirements: Some data may be retained longer if required by law.

9. Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for users under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. By using our service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries.
